If you have a time marker, or end of hour, etc., it's possible for items to be dropped and not played. There may be situations where you have ItemA, followed by ItemB, and if one of them gets dropped, then you don't want the other one to play. Possibly because they belong together, or you'd end up with a sweeper followed by another sweeper (sweeeper played, song dropped, top-of-hour played), or something like that. Or you might have a "New music sweeper" play, then the new song gets dropped, and then an old song or something else plays. It would be great to be able to link items together. Link the new music sweeper to the item playing the new music. Or simply link the sweeper/song combo near the time marker so if the song gets dropped, the sweeper does, too.
