There are several ways to add background music (a bed) in PlayIt Live:
QuickCarts - Load a bed into a QuickCart by dragging an audio file onto it. Set the cart to Loop in the edit settings, and you can play it whilst talking over it. For a bed with an ending, configure the playback sequence to "Go to Loop B" so clicking stops the loop and plays the ending.
Playout Log - Add the bed as a separate item in your playout log and talk over it during your live show. You can control when it starts and stops using the player controls.
Voice Track Recording with Segue Editor Carts - When recording voice tracks, use the Carts section in the Segue Editor. Load a bed into the cart before recording, adjust the volume slider, then click Record and play the cart whilst recording. The bed mixes directly into your voice track.
Automating News with Beds - If your "News In" track contains both a jingle at the beginning and a bed portion, set the Cue Out point of this track to the start of the bed section and select No Fade on the track. This means the next track (your news audio) will start playing, but the "News In" track will continue playing without fading, allowing the bed portion to play under the news. Edit the "News In" track in an audio editor to ensure the bed level is low enough for news to be heard over it. Ideally the bed portion should be shorter than your news tracks, but if it's longer you can use the Scheduled Event Action: Fade out beds after the news item to fade out any beds that are still running.
