How do I set up attribute-based separation and transitions?

For attribute-based separation (e.g., preventing Male→Male vocals, Ballad→Ballad, or Fast→Fast transitions), use Track Set Separation Playout Policies. This feature ensures tracks within the same set are not replayed for a specified period, giving granular control over attribute-based rules. Track Set Separation requires the Advanced Scheduling module.

To set this up, first tag your tracks with relevant attributes such as gender (Male Vocals, Female Vocals), tempo (Ballad, Up-tempo), and style/era (Gold-2000s, Current Hits). Navigate to Manage > Playout Policies in PlayIt Live and click Add New. Select Track Set Separation Playout Policy from the options.

In the policy settings, configure the Separation time to specify the minimum time that must pass before any track in the same set is played again. Then define your track set by choosing the Set type: select Tag and choose the attribute tag you want to separate (e.g., Male Vocals, Ballad). For example, setting "Male Vocals" with a 10-minute separation ensures male vocal tracks won't play within 10 minutes of each other. You can create multiple policies for different attributes. Optionally, use the Specific track groups filter to apply the policy only to certain track groups.
