PlayIt Live

What are the silence analysis settings in PlayIt Live and how do they work?

PlayIt Live automatically analyses your audio to remove start and end silence and set Cue In and Cue Out points so songs, jingles, sweepers, and promos segue smoothly without gaps or dead air. This analysis happens automatically when you import your music (as the Analyse silence checkbox is ticked by default in the Add Tracks wizard), so you don't need to manually edit your files for gapless playback in most cases.

The silence analysis feature detects where audio actually begins and ends by identifying silence levels at the start and end of files. This ensures professional-sounding transitions between all types of content during automated playout.

You can fine-tune the sensitivity of this analysis by going to File > Settings > General and adjusting the "Silence analysis" section settings. These settings determine how sensitive the automatic analysis will be when detecting silence levels.

The silence analysis is used in several ways:

  • Automatically when you import tracks (the Analyse silence checkbox is ticked by default in the Add Tracks wizard)
  • When files are dragged and dropped from the file system onto a player
  • When you click the Analyse button in the Track Editor window for existing tracks

This automatic detection saves time compared to manually setting cue points and ensures consistent, professional-sounding transitions throughout your programming.
