Support of MIDI hardware panels
There are physical control panels available (for example the Novation Launchcontrol XL) which would allow fader and start control of PlayIt Live rather better than a keyboard. An add on that allows the use of such a device would be a worthwhile development.

The implementation looks promising. I could do with more information about what default mapping (if any) matches the named hardware panels. It would be most useful with mixers that output MIDI (such as the D&R products) . What happens with velocity sensitivitive keys? There isn’t currently any obvious use for MIDI knobs or faders. Perhaps this will follow.

Hi Mark Those panels have their own configuration where you can map button presses to notes. You then map those notes to PlayIt Live. Velocity is currently unused, I am not sure where this would fit in. Certainly for the iRig Pads controller that I have been testing with, this allows for the knobs to set to 1 or -1 depending on the direction change. I have mapped this to next page and previous page for the QuickCarts.

Thinking about this a bit more, it’s a start but in the longer term something that works with DJ controllers is probably the way to go. As much as there is a standard, Serato’s hardware requirements might be a place to start. Alternatively Mixxx maps commonly available hardware features to its interface. Typically there is a software mixed “main” audio source and a “cue” audio. Play/pause and cue. Other controls have less obvious mapping to PlayIt Live but some could be of use.
