How do I use Live365 ad triggers with PlayIt Live?

PlayIt Live works well with Live365 ad trigger files, which are required for stations with ad packages. Live365 requires 4 minutes of advertisements per hour, and the trigger files tell Live365 when to insert their adverts into your stream.

Step 1: Download the trigger files

Download the appropriate trigger MP3 files (30, 60, 90, or 120 seconds) from Live365's support site at https://help.live365.com/support/solutions/articles/43000533544-livedj-ad-triggers. Most stations use a combination that adds up to 4 minutes per hour, for example two 120-second triggers, or four 60-second triggers.

Step 2: Add the triggers as tracks

In PlayIt Live, go to Manage > Tracks and click Add New. Browse to the downloaded trigger MP3 files and import each one. It's worth giving them clear names such as "Live365 Trigger 60s" or "Live365 Trigger 120s" so they're easy to identify later.

Step 3: Create a track group for the triggers (optional but recommended)

Go to Manage > Track Groups and click Add New Track Group, then choose Standard Track Group. Name it something like "Live365 Ad Triggers" and add your imported trigger tracks to it. Using a track group makes it easier to schedule the triggers in your clocks and to swap files later if Live365 updates them.

Step 4: Schedule the triggers in your clocks

Go to Manage > Clocks and either edit an existing clock or create a new one. Within the clock, click Add to insert a new clock item at the position where you want a trigger to play. Set the Type to either Track (to always play a specific trigger file) or Track Group (to rotate between triggers in the group). Click the edit icon next to Settings to choose the specific track or group.

Position the triggers within the hour to match how Live365 expects ads to be spaced. For example, you might place a 120-second trigger near the top of the hour and another at the bottom of the hour to total 4 minutes. Repeat this for each clock you have scheduled across the week so every hour of output meets the 4-minute requirement.

Step 5: Apply the clocks to your schedule

Once the triggers are added to your clocks, go to Manage > Schedule Clocks and ensure the updated clocks are assigned to every hour of the week. When PlayIt Live generates the playout log, the trigger files will be inserted automatically at the positions you set in the clock.
