If your microphone isn't working when using the remote voice tracking interface in your web browser, there are several possible causes to check.
Browser Permissions
The most common issue is that your browser hasn't been granted permission to access your microphone. When you click the Record button for the first time in a remote voice tracking session, your browser should prompt you to allow microphone access. You must click Allow for the recording to work. If you previously denied permission or the prompt didn't appear, you'll need to manually grant access through your browser settings. In Chrome-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi), click the padlock or settings icon in the address bar and ensure the microphone is set to "Allow" for the remote voice tracking site.
Audio Device Selection
After granting permissions, make sure you've selected the correct microphone device in the segue editor. When you open the segue editor to record a voice track, click Settings to review your audio device selections. Choose the microphone device you want to use for recording from the dropdown menu, and ensure it's a device that only records your microphone and doesn't pick up the playback audio. You should also wear headphones to prevent your computer's audio output from being recorded into your voice track. Once you've selected the correct devices, click Save Changes to apply them.
Testing Your Microphone
Before troubleshooting PlayIt Live, verify that your microphone is working on your computer. Test it in another application or use your operating system's sound settings to confirm the microphone is detected and receiving audio input. If your microphone doesn't work in other applications, you may have a hardware issue or driver problem that needs to be resolved first.
If You've Bypassed Security Checks
The remote voice tracking interface requires HTTPS and a Chrome-based browser to function properly. The system should automatically prevent access if these requirements aren't met, but if you have somehow bypassed these checks, the microphone will not work. Ensure you're accessing the remote voice tracking interface through the proper secure connection and using a supported browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Vivaldi).
