Remote Studio is ideal for presenters who need to broadcast live from a remote location while maintaining full control over the playout system. Unlike voice tracking, Remote Studio provides real-time audio monitoring and direct control of PlayIt Live, making it perfect for live shows, co-hosting, or when presenters cannot be physically present in the studio.
When to use Remote Studio:
Setting up Remote Studio: First, create users through Manage > Users in PlayIt Live. For each remote presenter, set their display name, username, and password. You can either enable Is Admin for trusted users or select specific hours when they're allowed to broadcast (they can log in anytime to plan shows but only go live during permitted hours).
Enable remote connections by going to File > Enable remote connections, ensuring Use HTTPS is ticked, then click Start Server and Help me set up external access for firewall and port forwarding configuration.
Using Remote Studio: Remote presenters access the system through a Chrome-based browser using the provided URL. The interface matches PlayIt Live exactly, allowing full control over players, playout log, and segues. To broadcast live, click Start Live Audio to hear real-time studio audio, then Unmute to activate their microphone. The Duck button lowers studio audio when speaking, and Microphone Gain adjusts their input levels.
For optimal performance, ensure a stable 10Mbps+ internet connection with wired connectivity where possible.
PlayIt Software is based in the heart of Cambridge, England, United Kingdom.
