Track Set Separation is a playout policy in PlayIt Live that prevents tracks within a defined set from playing too close together. You define the set by selecting a track group, tag, or custom filter, and then specify a minimum time period that must pass before any track from that set can play again. For example, if you create a set of tracks tagged as "Local Artists" with a 60-minute separation, PlayIt Live will ensure that once any local artist track plays, no other local artist track will play for at least an hour.
This feature gives you precise control over content distribution throughout your broadcast day. Rather than preventing individual tracks from repeating, Track Set Separation manages categories of content as a whole. You might use it to spread out tracks from the same era, ensure proper spacing of songs from a particular genre subset, or maintain variety within themed content blocks. The feature works alongside your other playout policies, helping you create a more balanced and engaging listening experience.
Track Set Separation requires the Advanced Scheduling module. You configure it through Manage > Playout Policies, where you can create multiple policies for different sets and apply them to specific track groups if needed. The scheduler will respect these separations when building your playout log, selecting tracks that comply with all your configured policies.
